For he’s a jolly good fellow!
Coquet Medical Practice is delighted to announce that Dr Gareth Watkins has been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in recognition of his contribution to medical education.

Parental responsibility
The Practice would usually expect children under 16 to attend for an appointment with a parent. There can be exceptions in children over 13 who are deemed to have full understanding of the implications of seeking help and treatment. If someone else accompanies the child it may be necessary to contact the parent to seek consent before organising treatment.

Congratulations to our super fit doctors!
Two of our partners are very pleased to have achieved a personal best in two very different activities this summer.
Inspired by Robson Green’s Wild Swimming adventure on TV last year, Dr Kathleen Spoor spent five whole days swimming around the islands of the Scottish Inner Hebrides.  The highlight of her challenge was a nerve wracking 1.5 km swim across the Corryvrekan whirlpool, north of Jura. This is among one of the largest whirlpools in the world and is classified as un-navigable for boats!  She is looking for a new open water challenge for next year and would be grateful for any more ideas.

Dr Scott Wilkes has completed his first Great North Run on behalf of The Stroke Association.  He completed the 13.1 miles in 1hour and 46 minutes (top 11% of runners), closely followed by his wife Jane, who was only 12 minutes behind him!  They would like to extend their thanks to all the kind sponsors, both staff and patients.  Sponsorship is still coming in and is currently in excess of £300.  Thank you.
