A tasty meal at the Harbour Guest House
Christine who is originally from South Shields was a childminding project manager for Buckingham County, while Clive’s background was in Marine Engineering and then he worked as a Radiopharmaceutical Chemist in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
“Then Clive was made redundant, so we decided to look around for properties to ‘live the dream'” said Christine. ” We looked in so many places, we stumbled upon this one on the internet and decided to come and have a look. We liked the area, the beauty of Northumberland is fantastic. The sandy beaches, the castles, the place just ticked all our boxes.”
The Harbour Guest House has six bedrooms and a tearoom, which the couple are now opening as a Bistro on Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 5-9pm.
“We have decided to open as a Bistro in the evenings” said Clive “Our business caters for cyclists, walkers, holidaymakers and locals as well. We would like to encourage local people to come in and try our traditional and locally sourced food. Just about everything is sourced within a 30 mile radius.”
The restaurant is licenced and there’s an Early Bird Special menu from 5.30 – 7.30pm with any one course for £6.95. Early Bird dishes include chicken breast, shoulder of lamb, Amble fish pie, salmon steak and pasta.
“We want to provide top quality food as cheaply as possible” says Clive. You can ring Christine and Clive to book a table on 01665 710381.
