History DVD

Posted on 10th June 2011 | in Community , Heritage & Tourism

Amble Social History Group has released a new DVD (number 4) of old and new pictures of Amble and District.

It is available at £3 from Queen Street and Percy street Post Offices, JK Crafts and Alan’s paper shop in Newburgh St.

This will be the last DVD for some time, and possibly the last we ever produce. We thank all those who have contributed photographs for the four DVDs.

We will continue to donate profits from books and DVDs to local good causes.

Hi, I live in Zambia but was born in Shilbottle and still have relatives in Amble. One of them I believe is your treasurer Frank Swinhoe. I saw a reference to a photo he submitted to the Northumberland Gazette of his great grandparents in Shilbottle (who are my grandparents). The photo does not appear on the webpage ,only one of a bunch of men in the 1920’s? but the notes state there are two and the one with his great grandparents is missing and neither does it appear in the Gazette’s Photo’s for Sale. I picked up and email address for Frank- frank@bigfrank.freeserve.co.uk but mail is failing to go through, also tried through spen@tachon.fsnet.co.uk for forwarding but also failed. Can you put me in contact with him (email) or ask if he can email me a scanned copy of the photo.

    Much appreciated,

    Dr Geoff Casson
