Posted on 12th August 2011 | in Heritage & Tourism

See some of the county’s hidden architectural  treasures. Many of its most historic buildings will be opened to the public, free of charge, between 8 – 11 September. This is part  of  Heritage Open Days, an  initiative aimed at celebrating the county’s heritage, history and culture.

A full programme of events has been planned around Northumberland and a wide range of buildings will be opening for the weekend.

Guided walks and special activities will take place for all the family to enjoy. Full details of Heritage Open Days in Northumberland can be found on  www.northumberland.gov.uk/hods.

A leaflet outlining the  programme of events  is also available from libraries, tourist information centres  and leisure centres  across the county.
