Through the Lens 2012

Posted on 18th October 2011 | in Amble Photographic Group , Clubs + Societies , Community

After the highly successful photo competition and exhibition this year, and by popular request, the committee is pleased to announce the Through the Lens 2012 Competition. It is a joint project of St. Cuthbert’s Church and Amble Photographic Group.

People and views are still the main focus, and photos will be judged in two categories: Views of Amble and Hauxley in all weathers; and secondly, Sports and Hobbies. The views should obviously be local and recent, but the photos of sports and hobbies can be taken anywhere, at any time. Those entering pictures in the  views category are asked to note the description ‘in all weathers’. Photos of plants and animals do not fit either category.

Entry fees remain  the same: adults over 18 pay £1 per photo, for everybody 18 and under entry is free. All adult entries will be judged together, in each of the two categories, while those 18 and under will be judged in three groups, 0-8years, 9-12years, and 13-18 years. Schools are being invited to enter a portfolio (of about 15 photos) as there was a good response in the last competition. Cash prizes will again be awarded.

The committee reminds  competitors that the competition is open only to amateur photographers, not professionals, otherwise anyone can enter.

Entry forms will be available from the usual places: St. Cuthbert’s Church, Amble Development Trust office in Fourways 2, and N&F Young, Queen Street. Photographs with entry forms and fees should be returned to the same places. The last date for entries is March 31st, 2012.

As in the previous two years, a grand exhibition of all photos, indicating winners and those highly commended will be mounted in the Parish Hall, Dovecote Street over the three days of the May Bank Holiday, May 5th, 6th and 7th, 2012.
