Arrests made

Police have arrested two people after the old Northumberland Foods factory was broken into. Police were alerted to the break in at 10.30am on Tuesday 15th November and subsequently arrested two men on suspicion of theft of wiring and piping. The men who are from Ashington have been bailed pending police enquiries.

Voicing concerns about the state of the building in attracting vandals, Inspector Sue Peart said that broken windows and overgrown gardens are well-known factors which can add to an area’s increase in crime.
“We need some positive action around the Northumberland Foods site” she said.
