Police incidents: March 2012

Only 17 reported crimes in the town during this period. Breakdown as follows:

5 X shoplifting offences. Offenders targeting the alcohol aisles in supermarkets. Shoplifting a Sector priority.

3 x thefts from local caravan sites. Thieves targeting gas bottles at the links and a chimenea at Silver Carrs. (Police are appealing for witnesses).

1 x theft of lead from the roof at James Calvert Spence High School. 150 ft of lead flashing taken. Only noticed by staff when the roof started leaking

1 x damage to a boat at Amble yacht club. Evidence that youngsters are gaining access to the boats and causing disorder therin.

No other crimes of note.

Neighbourhood officers did an estate walkabout on the Radcliffe Estate 21/03/12 with representatives from Homes for Northumberland. Residents were encouraged to discuss any concerns they had on the estate.

Neighbourhood officers seized a motorcycle that had been subject to numerous complaints from local residents around Priory park. Motorcycle has been ridden in an erratic manner by an uninsured youth. Cycle will be crushed and the youth summonsed to court for road traffic act offences.

Seizures of alcohol. Lighter nights, warmer weather etc has seen the usual seasonal increase in alcohol seizures around the town. By targeting local hot spots Neighbourhood officers have made 9 separate seizures of alcohol from underage youths. Local officers are actively targetting those who supply young people with alcohol. You may have seen the article in last weeks Gazette.
