An update from Coquet Medical Group

Posted on 09th October 2012 | in Community

We are all set for another exciting phase in the development of Coquet Medical Group. Services at Broomhill Health Centre have transferred to porta cabins in the car park so the Health Centre can undergo a total refurbishment. It is expected this will be finished around the end of February. When booking appointments, would patients inform us if they are unable to manage stairs as some consulting rooms are situated on the first floor of the cabins. Thank you to everyone for your co-operation and patience in the coming months.

We will sadly be saying goodbye to Dr Fraser on 2 November when he retires after working in the practice for 30 years. He will be greatly missed by all and we wish him a much deserved happy and healthy retirement.

Dr Fraser is to be replaced by two salaried GPs, Dr Lucy Carruthers and Dr Johanne Lee who are due to start in December Dr Carruthers has been working as a GP Registrar for six months in our practice, and is now a permanent member of our team.

Lucy went to school in Morpeth then studied medicine at Newcastle University. She worked at Wansbeck General Hospital then joined the Northumbria GP Training Programme. She has a special interest in women’s health and in Elderly Medicine especially in Old Age Psychiatry.

Dr Johanne Lee lives in Whitley Bay and is originally from Leeds. She attended Newcastle University and graduated in 2000. She has a PHD in Medical Research in Breast Cancer Chemotherapy. She has previously worked in surgical training in North East hospitals before going into General Practice.
