Hauxley Bonfire Night

Posted on 18th December 2012 | in Community

The weather was kind to us again this year and we managed to build the bonfire before the little splash of rain at 6pm. However it did clear up and we had a clear dry night. The burgers and hot dogs were selling fast before we lit the bonfire at 6.30, but once the blaze got going everyone made their way to the beach.  The fireworks, set off by our two friendly firemen and their assistants, started at 7pm, and what a great show they were. The large crowd was delighted by the show judging by the many complimentary comments we heard.

Our thanks must go to the team who spent many hours building the bonfire, the firemen and their assistants for the display, and the bucket carriers who collected on behalf of the Great North Air Ambulance. Due to the generosity of the people who made donations we collected almost £300, a fantastic sum in such a short period.  Our thanks also to the team who ran the BBQ and kept the burgers and hot dogs going throughout the evening.

Finally we would like to thank everyone who came and made the evening such a success. It was only your attendance that made it such a great evening and a money-maker for a very worthwhile cause. So thanks again for coming and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

We were on holiday for a few days at Sanderling cottage and thought the bonfire and firework display was wonderful and would like to be there again this year, but when do we need to be there?
