Proposed timber holiday chalets

Plans to develop the Coquet Street car park and parts of Amble Marina have been submitted to Northumberland County Council.

Owners of Amble Marina want to create ten timber holiday chalets to be built along the water’s edge, adding a second floor to the current office and chandlery, as well as resurfacing and landscaping the Coquet Street car park.

Managing Director of Amble Marina Karl Brunton said “We anticipate that the planned redevelopment, which we hope will be supported by town and council, will support and possibly create construction jobs locally and provide a small number of full and part time positions for the holiday/tourism business. We have always employed and sourced locally wherever possible with current staff living in Amble, Warkworth, Togston and Ulgham.”

Plans within the Marina include a cafe and an overnight secure area for visiting motor homes, with access to electricity, washrooms and a laundry.

Amble resident, chair of Amble Town Council and chair of Amble Action Group Craig Weir said, on behalf of the Action group: “We welcome any innovation and change that would benefit this area of the town. It has been needed for a long time. “Also as chair of Pride in Amble I hope we can work together on the landscaping of the town to enhance the façade.”

i am over the moon at long last someone is doing something about the parking and encouraging tourists, we have needed a site for touring caravans for a long time bring much needed employment to the area. shame it didn’t include the site behind tesco express which has been fenced off and abandoned causing a eyesore in the area.
