police-in-a-police-carIt has come to the attention of Northumbria police that a number of vehicles tend to drive at speed along Castle Street, Warkworth.

It must be highlighted that there is no safe crossing facility where elderly, infirm or disabled residents can cross safely and that motorists should be vigilant at all times and fully aware that there is a 30 mph speed limit in place.

The Amble neighbourhood policing team, PC 8962 O’Keefe and PC 758 Welsh will be running speedwatch operations in the area which will proactively target speeding motorists and offer advice in the first instance.  Serial offenders, however,  will be followed up with enforcement action and may face a fine, points or a court appearance.
