A regular Friday lunchtime turned into an impromptu gig for children at Amble Links when musicians Tim Vantol and Joe William Davis visited the school.

They had just performed in Newcastle at an event organised by the father of pupil Lillie Oliver. He knew his daughter was a big fan of Dutch musician Tim, so asked if he could visit the school.

After the performance at Amble Links, Tim said, “It was the most nerve wracking gig I’ve ever played, and probably the most unusual! I’ve played in front of thousands of people before, but playing in front of the school was very different. It was great. I’ve told Lillie that the next time I come to visit we’re going to play guitar together so she needs to practice a song. Hopefully I’ve inspired a few of the children to pick up a guitar, or any instrument and try writing their own music!”

Aaron Oliver, Lillie’s dad said: “After the gig in Newcastle I was chatting to Tim about Lillie, and the idea came about of visiting her at school so she could meet Tim, whose music she loves. When we got to Amble Links, it turned into an impromptu gig for the whole school over lunch; it was a really special moment and one I hope Lillie remembers forever.”
