Posted on 13th March 2014 | in Community

North East Equality & Diversity (NEED) Ltd, is now operating a door to door minibus service from Amble to Ashington. for older people, people with a disability, those socially or rurally isolated or on a low income and unable to access suitable public or private transport. It runs every Tuesday and goes via Hadston and Widdrington.

Northumberland County Council’s Get Going fund is paying for the service  until 21 October when it is hoped it will have become self- sufficient or that Amble, Hadston and Widdrington parish councils might be able to give a small sum of money to help it continue.

Clients will be picked up between 09.30 – 10.30am from their home. The returning bus will leave Ashington between 1 – 1.30pm. The driver will help with shopping bags.

Passengers have to be members of NEED which costs £5 a year. The fare from Amble, Hadston and Widdrington is £6.00 return. Unfortunately at present they are unable to apply concessionary fares.

If you are interested, please call 01665 605780, email needadmin@btconnect.com, www.needltd.co.uk  to learn more about this service and how to book a seat.
