Spurreli Ice Cream continues their successful run in the 2014 National Ice Cream Awards, racking up an incredible eight awards culminating with a Silver medal for the “Arabica Coffee” ice cream (they were only points behind the Champion of Champions).

This achievement was closely followed with a Special Diploma of Merit for their ‘Hannah Banana’ flavour, and six Diplomas for their “Dairy”, “Artisan”, “Alnwick Rum & Raisin”, “Strawberry”,  “Belgian Chocolate” and “Tutti Frutti” Ice Creams.

Spurreli’s results are only equalled by two other long established Italian family owned manufacturers – a real achievement for a 3 ½ year old business.

The competition was held whilst owners Nick and Katie Spurr were away from the business on holiday. Hannah Jobson, Spurreli’s Gelato Chef made the winning entries.

On hearing of the results Nick congratulated Hannah on her tremendous achievement. Hannah’s reply was, “Next year we go  for ‘Gold!’”

The Ice Cream Expo is the National Ice Cream Competition. Producers from all across the UK and Ireland go head to head to find a Champion of Champions. Artisan producers compete in 10 classes alongside larger producers in continuous production.

Nick said, “We are passionate about our ice cream and these National Awards are a tremendous acknowledgement of our efforts and come at an exciting time for Amble with its imminent developments and regeneration.”
