RNLI invites north east supporters to write their Will for free this March

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is taking part in Free Wills Month this March, offering supporters aged over 55 the chance to write or update their Will for FREE at participating solicitors in several areas around the UK, including the north east.

The Free Wills Month scheme gives people the chance to write or update their Will with participating solicitors and, if they wish, include leaving a gift to a charity, after they have taken care of their loved ones.

Nearly two thirds of RNLI lifeboat launches are only made possible through gifts left in Wills, and although people using the Free Wills Month service are not obliged to leave a gift in their Will to the RNLI, the charity hopes people will consider doing so to help fund its lifesaving service.

Jeremy Cronin, RNLI Legacy and In Memoriam Coordinator, says: ‘The RNLI has helped those in danger at sea since 1824, and while nobody knows what the future holds, we do know that the sea will always be dangerously unpredictable. Six out of every ten RNLI lifeboat launches are only possible due to gifts left in Wills, which shows donations – however large or small – are vital for helping our lifeboat crews and lifeguards continue saving lives at sea.  We are so grateful to everyone who leaves a gift to the RNLI in their Will.’
