Celebrate clean beaches

Local organisations, who look after our coast, along with many beach survey volunteers will be celebrating a year of surveying beaches on the coast of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Part of the aim of the surveys was to make people aware of where the litter on our beaches comes from.

Results of the Beach Litter Monitoring project will be presented at a meeting in Berwick and materials for spreading the word about keeping our beaches clean and beautiful will be freely available.

The year long project was funded by Leader+ through the EU.
Organisations taking part are Berwickshire and North Northumberland Coast European Marine Site, Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), St Abb’s and Eyemouth Volunteer Marine Reserve Ranger and the Adopt-a-Beach officers from the Marine Conservation Society.

Time and place: December 15th 10.30am- 1pm Mitchell Memorial Hall, Kiln Hill, Tweedmouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed
