Molly’s smiling face is a winner
At the harvest assembly at Amble Links First School on Thursday 18th of October the new school badge was unveiled.
During last summer term the pupils’ council organised a competition to produce a new school logo. The winner was chosen from a host of very good entries.
The designer was Molly Dee Mitchell. Chair of governors, Audrey Jones said, “ We chose this particular design because of the happy smiling faces of the parents and children all linked together.” There are five figures with LINKS emblazoned on their chests
.
Molly was in year two when she created the design, and now in year three she can be proud to see all her fellow pupils sporting the new badge.
Head teacher Jackie Brown had hoped the new sweatshirts would be ready for the start of the new school year, but there was a delay in the manufacturing. The harvest assembly gave the parents the opportunity to drop in for a cup of coffee and buy sweatshirts for the children.
As an added bonus, the children from the Links School, together with all other pupils who took part in the Early Years Family Learning Programme, received a free book bag.
Parents and children in the scheme came together over a six week period, when they enjoyed fun events and attended workshops on sleep, speech and language, behaviour, dance and healthy eating. Sara Jenson-Boon, the Extended Services Coordinator for the Coquet Partnership of Schools, set up the course and was there to present the children with their blue bags, with the new logo on, of course.
