Can you “Make a Difference”?

Community Service Volunteers (CSV) “Make a Difference Day” was held in October and is the UK's largest day of volunteer action. Last year was a huge success with 120,000 people throughout the UK taking part in community projects.

Age Concern Northumberland is now looking for local people to get involved within the local charity and is asking “Could you make a difference by volunteering on a regular basis?”

They run a number of schemes where they are looking for new volunteers to join their existing teams such as:
• Telephone Befriending Service offering isolated or lonely older people a regular telephone call giving them some companionship and helping to lessen the feeling of isolation or loneliness.
• Rural Access Project taking older people in the community on cultural or shopping trips.
• Mini Bus Driver providing a means of transport for older people, from their homes to their day centre.
• Dementia Day Care offering social interaction and meaningful activities for service users with varying stages of Dementia.

Anyone who thinks that they could make a difference to someone’s life, contact Hazel Webb on 0845 140 0088 or email info@acashington.demon.co.uk. Further information is available from Age Concern’s website on: www.ageconcernnorthumberland.org.uk
