Jack Frost dances through town

Willow Lanterns lit up the way for Jack Frost and the Star Horse as they danced through Amble on Sunday 18th November. One hundred local school children and parents with willow lanterns followed Drum Din in the torch light procession as Amble Christmas Lights were switched on.

Children, aged seven to nine, took part in designing and making willow lanterns in the schools over the last two weeks, working with local artists.

Clockwise: Jack Frost led the willow lantern procession, bringing an enchanted glow to a damp, cold Queen Street and Town Square. A faun from Viper Performance Co. sprinkled a little fairy-tale magic over the event. Pier 81 girls and their Christmas canines joined the procession and even Santa turned up to greet all the children.

The event was sponsored by Awards for All, Bell Truck and Van – Newcastle and Northumberland County Council.

Sara Jenson-Boon, Coquet Partnership Extended Services Co-ordinator added, “The children designed the lanterns at school and came along on Sunday evening in the cold to parade through the streets of Amble.”
