Everybody’s talking about us...

Did you know that Amble has an active Community Forum that exists to promote the interests of Amble?

Under the Local Government Restructuring plans that will result in a Unitary Authority in Northumberland, the voice for local communities will be through a Community Forum.

Amble Community Forum’s purpose is to engage with the local community to develop a broad view on future plans for Amble; improve communication between statutory and voluntary bodies; build positive partnerships; and to develop a joint approach to problem solving.

Membership of the Forum at present includes representatives from Northumberland County Council, Northumberland Strategic Partnership, Amble Development Trust, Alnwick District Council, Amble Town Council, Amble Churches Together, Northumberland Care Trust, Northumbria Police, Education and youth representatives, including Amble Drop-In and Coquet High School.

The priority issues that are currently under discussion include, Community Voice/Consultation, Crime and Disorder, Economic Development (including Retail), Health and Wellbeing, Training and Employment and Youth Involvement.

Now that the Forum is up and running in Amble, it may be that sections of our community are not as yet represented. The Forum is open to all, so if anyone is interested in joining please contact the administrator, Louise Stott, on 01665-712929. Membership is under regular review so requests to join can be considered reasonably quickly.

Everyone on the Forum has the interests of Amble at heart. It is my intention that through open dialogue and partnership working, the future of Amble and its local community will be well planned, inclusive and result in a community in which we can continue to be proud.

Paul Allen, Chair of Amble Community Forum
