Volunteers wanted for Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Policing is aimed at increasing public confidence, promoting public safety and reducing crime and disorder. Amble now has its own dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team consisting of two Neighbourhood Beat Managers (NBM’s) and two Community Safety Officers (CSO’s).

The NBM for the Town Centre is Wendy Weatheritt PC 2445 who has worked at both Alnwick and Amble and is based permanently in Amble with her colleague Stu Dixon PC 3201. Stu covers the residential areas of Amble outside of the immediate Town Centre.

The two CSO’s Katy Gerrard and Darin Fawcett are familiar faces in and around Amble but had previously been working between Amble and Alnwick. They are now permanently based in Amble. Working with the team is Katrina Cassidy PC 8540 who is currently office based at Amble. Overseeing the team is Sergeant Neville Wharrier who reports directly to the new Sector Inspector Sue Peart.

As a way of working together with the community to address issues that are pertinent to Amble residents the team are looking for volunteers for Neighbourhood Watch. Neighbourhood Watch is a partnership where people come together to make their communities safer and a better place to live in.

The team is also developing an Amble Police Community Forum. This Forum aims to meet every three months and for local people and residents to highlight areas or issues of concern and set policing priorities. The team will then look to addressing those issues, which may include working with partner agencies and reporting back to the group at the next meeting.

Finally the team will be holding a monthly ‘Drop In’ session on the second Tuesday of each month commencing Tuesday 12th February at the new Fourways Centre in Amble between 11am and 12noon, where anybody is welcome to come along and meet a member of the team and discuss any issues that are of concern.

Anybody wishing to become involved in NHW or would like to know more about the Amble Neighbourhood Team is welcome to contact us on 08456 043 043 extension 61363.

Katrina Cassidy PC 8540
