For fans of local food
If you’re one of the many people who appreciate being able to buy local food, why not call in to The Bread Bin? They now stock a range of locally produced cheese, flour, biscuits and drinks, as well as their famously yummy bread.

Credit where it’s due
In our recent recycling article (Issue 47: p13) we complained that although you can recycle Tetrapak type paper drinks cartons at Morpeth, you couldn’t anywhere else.
We are pleased to report that there is now a container for these in the Amble car park next to Breeze’s (as was). So there’s no longer any excuse for chucking them in our green wheelie bins. Thanks Alnwick District Council. Someone out there is obviously listening!

Coquet High School Partnership
Amble County Councillors Jeff Watson and Robert Arckless have welcomed the decision by Governors in the Coquet Partnership to work together to find a way forward to deal with the issues facing the schools as a result of the future projected fall in pupil numbers.

Both Councillors have met senior officials in the Children’s Services Directorate at County. They agree that the priority has to be making sure that now and in the future students in the Amble area are given the best possible education and the widest degree of choice.

Robert and Jeff are united on this issue. In a joint statement they say “We would like to emphasise that no decisions have yet been taken. We will do whatever we can to support all of our local schools as they work together to find a solution. We welcome the interest and support demonstrated by the Children’s Services Directorate.”

Chinese freeze means Welfare wait
Progress at Amble’s Welfare has been hampered by the extreme winter conditions in China! The steel frames required for the Multi Use Games Areas are still in a container waiting to be shipped but the severe snowstorms in China have meant this has not happened yet. There is little anyone can do but rest assured the minute they arrive in the UK we shall see a relatively quick turn around and we hope to have the play equipment and MUGA’s in place by April. We’ll keep you posted!
