Armed Forces Day - June 27th
Amble is getting ready to celebrate and recognise Her Majesty’s Armed Forces – past, present and future – as part of Britain’s first ever National Armed Forces Day to be held on Saturday 27 June 2009. Amble’s celebrations will take place in the Town Square between 11am and 3pm.
It aims to bring people together to show their appreciation and support of the Armed Forces. This day is our chance to say ‘thank you’ to all the brave and honourable men and women who have fought, and continue to make huge personal sacrifices to ensure the interests of our country are defended.
There will be drill displays and competitions from the Army Cadets, drill and hornpipe displays from the Sea Cadets alongside displays from the Marine Cadets. We also hope to have ‘Heaton Voices’ - a community choir that makes a big sound!
Look out for posters nearer the time for more information.
If you are, or were, a member of the Armed Forces, then please feel free to don your uniforms (and perhaps medals!) and come along and join in the fun.
If you are interested in a career in the Armed Forces this is an opportunity to get some information, as we hope to have a number of recruitment officers present.
If you are interested in getting involved in this event please get in touch. Contact Louise Stott on (01665) 712929.
