Little Shore's jumbo surprise
 |
| Anne the elephant enjoying a dip in the sea at Amble |
Bobby Roberts Circus came to town at the end of May, setting up camp on the Little Shore. One of the troupe seemed to particularly enjoy her visit to the beach, and took a cooling swim at Amble's Little Shore.
The Ambler was told that Anne the Elephant loves swimming, but only if it is warm. Anne, an Asian elephant, is 57 years old and has been with the Roberts family since she was five. She is no longer performing but is still considered a member of the family, said circus spokeswoman Kitty Roberts.

Circus spokeswoman Kitty Roberts told The Ambler "We are a very old family. We're originally from Scotland and we regard ourselves as the Scottish National Circus."
There are lots more animals in the circus, including Monty the camel, dogs and tiny falabella ponies from Argentina.
Human performers include jugglers, clowns and a Hungarian swaypole artist.
They are in Amble at the Little Shore until Saturday 30th when they leave for Scotland.
