Through the Lens
Amble and Hauxley in pictures

The photo competition has started and some people are preparing their entries. All you have to do is get out and about with your camera, choose your best efforts and enter into the competition being organised by St. Cuthbert’s Church and Amble Photography Group.

The competition runs for a year but you will probably want to take photos throughout the year, showing the town and surroundings in different moods, so don’t put off the task till another day. It will probably offer a different picture at a different time.

Look out for announcements about advice sessions being offered to those who might be new to photography or don’t feel very confident.

We gave the general outline in the last issue of The Ambler, but in case you’ve lost your copy, here it is again.

Photos must be of Amble and Hauxley, including Coquet Island, the Braid, Mariners’ View and Gloster Hill. The three categories of subject are Picture Postcard View, Buildings and Unusual View, all with the idea of showing the attractive face of the parish. Just remember that it is fun and you don’t have to produce professional results. The competition is strictly for amateurs.

There is one age group for adults over 18 and for those aged under 18, there are three age groups: First School, Middle School and High School, according to which you attend at the time of taking your photo. Under16s must have a parent’s or carer’s signature on the entry form. Those aged 16-18, who have left school may enter the high school or adult group.

Entry forms are available from the Development Trust office at Fourways 2, from N&F Young, Queen Street or from church in Church Street on Sunday mornings, 9am-9.30 and 10.45am-11.

The entry forms give all the necessary information and rules that you need. Your photos, with entry fees and completed forms can be returned to the same places as above.
