Zecca opening soon
Former North East chef of the year, Richard Sim is opening an exciting new restaurant in Amble, which will create up to 20 new jobs.
 |
Richard is one of the North East’s highest regarded chefs, training under world renowned Marco Pierre White at the Berkeley Hotel, Piccadilly, leading Tiger Tiger Newcastle as executive chef and spearheading the Alnwick Gardens restaurant for the Duchess of Northumberland, to name just a few of his achievements.
Richard is also co-founder and executive chef of one of Newcastle’s premier establishments Six at the Baltic.
So why Amble for his latest venture? “Why hasn’t someone done it before?” he laughed. I’m a big lover of Padstow, and Amble’s got so many similarities - the harbour, beaches, a strong community. I think it’s just right.” |
Richard and business partner Mark Jones are convinced that the new Italian restaurant is ideal for the town. “For too long Amble has been Alnwick’s poor cousin.” said Mark.
“We want a vibrant local restaurant which will be somewhere everyone can go” said Richard. “It’s for people who want to bring in their kids for a pizza after school, families, as well as romantic couples. We want people to feel it’s very family friendly.” Zecca is scheduled to open at the end of July, at the old Bread Bin premises on High St.
Not everyone is happy though
