Many people in Britain are feeling the effects of the recession. Managing your finances at this time may not be easy but if not handled properly families could be forced into financial difficulties and hardship.

So where can you go for help to make sense of your budget?
You could go to Moneymadeclear, a new service available in Northumberland offering sales-free money guidance developed by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in partnership with Government.

This new service is part of a pathfinder pilot scheme being rolled out in the North East. Amble and district residents can access this completely sales-free money guidance service before it goes nationwide.

• On the phone
By calling the help line number you can speak to a specially trained Money Guide who can give guidance and information on budgeting, tax and welfare benefits suitable to your needs.

• On the web
www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk provides the same information and guidance and includes many easy to follow leaflets about a wide range of topics.

• Face-to-face
The service provides appointments with a Money Guide to discuss your money issues in person. Just call the helpline number to book a session. In the Amble district Age Concern is our official partner.
