Have your say on County budget

Northumberland County Council is consulting with the public on a new budget report that will set out spending proposals for the next financial year.

Local residents are being invited to The Dovecote Centre in Amble at 6pm on Thursday 14th January to listen to proposals and give their views on where they think the council’s spending priorities should lie.

The council are facing an extremely challenging financial situation and are looking to minimise the impact on frontline services and residents by making reductions in staff and back office functions. The majority of the council’s core spending will remain strong with commitments of £159m on schools, £139m on adult care, £70m on housing, £18m on Fire and Rescue and £35m on transport.

Planning for the budget is still at an early stage and no final decisions have been made. The opinions of residents are important, so if you have time to spare, please come along and give your views.

Copies of the council’s budget report can be downloaded from www.northumberland.gov.uk
