As part of International Women’s Week and British Science Week, the Women’s Workshop in Amble is hosting a coastal walk on Sunday 17 March to celebrate local women in science, and the natural sciences in our landscape.

British Science Week runs from 8-17 March and is a ten-day program of events and activities based in science, technology, engineering and maths for people of all ages and backgrounds.

This particular event is focused at encouraging women to ‘have a go’ at exploring natural sciences. The coastal walk starts at 12pm and explores the local landscape with fun activities like geocaching. The walk ends in Embleton, where the group will meet Rev Alison Hardy to discuss lesser-known local women and their achievements.  Prior to this date there was also two workshops, one based in electrics and one based in astronomy.

The event is posted on our events tab, as well as on the Women’s Workshop websites. It runs from 12pm til 5pm, and is free of charge.
