Paul Rigby, Chair of Amble Development Trust said: “We are absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured to receive The King’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is a profound testament to the dedication, hard work, and passion of every single volunteer who has given their time to Amble Development Trust over the years. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of Amble and this award belongs to them. It will inspire us to continue and expand our work.”

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is an acknowledgement of the organisation’s efforts over the last 31 years in regenerating the town and running community projects.

Caroline Pryer, the Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland added: “The volunteers at Amble Development Trust exemplify the very best of community spirit. Their commitment has made a measurable, long-lasting and positive difference to the lives of people in Amble. This royal recognition is richly deserved, and I offer my warmest congratulations.”

Amble Development Trust will receive a certificate signed by The King, and a commemorative crystal. The Trust plans to celebrate the award with its volunteers on 15 December. Representatives of the Trust’s volunteers will also be invited to attend a Royal Garden Party next year.

Amble Development Trust is a not-for-profit charity and was nominated for the accolade by local people. Equivalent to an MBE, KAVS is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and is awarded for the life of the group. The award recognises groups that have the highest standard in everything they do. They are awarded to organisations who make a big difference to their local communities, and where volunteers rather than paid staff are in the driving seat.

This year is the third year of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Amble Development Trust is one of 231 groups receiving the award in 2025.
