The bi-annual Home International Surf Kayak Championships drew to a close with local kayakers Tamsin and Dan Green playing a critical part in the England surf kayak team’s success.

The pair from High Hauxley, travelled to Pembrokeshire, Wales to battle for England in the competition which sees teams from the home nations pit their skills against each other in both the long boat and short boat classes.

The England team finally won the contest in great conditions at Manorbier beach where Tamsin and Dan paid a huge part by winning all of the heats in which they paddled for the team. In doing so the pair not only were part of the Home Internationals winning team, they have managed to secure their places on the England Surf Kayak squad for the 2013 World championships based on their performances at the event.

As part of the event, the Welsh organisers also ran the British championships in which reigning World Surf Kayak Champion Tamsin put in a great performance, surfing well against solid competitors from across the nation. She came away having won both long and short boat classes and is crowned British Champion 2012. A great way to end on the success of the week.
They are now hard at work training for the 2013 World Championships to be held at the Sunshine Coast Australia.
