Skateboards and buses

Good news for local skateboarders. At last the long awaited skatepark should be well under way by the time you read this. If the planning procedures for the supermarket have vexed local people, spare a thought for the young people who campaigned, consulted and created the designs for their much wanted facility and then waited and waited as the long drawn out process shunted on.

The original skating facility was removed back in 2007 and many of the skaters have literally moved away now. Hopefully this will provide a secure and fun facility for our youngsters and because they invested so much effort into securing it, let’s hope it is enjoyed and taken care of for many years to come.

As we go to press, we have heard of changes in the bus service to Alnwick. Arriva has withdrawn the 472 service, but the County Council has secured a replacement to be operated by Travelsure, with a similar route and timetable. Unfortunately we believe Arriva tickets and passes are not valid on this new service, so be aware of this if you buy a return ticket. A timetable for the new service can be downloaded from the County Council website.
