Sainsbury’s in Alnwick raised over £650 with a bake sale for Amble RNLI, their local charity of the year.
It’s the latest of a number of fundraising activities which colleagues at the store will be taking part in during a year long partnership with Amble RNLI Lifeboat station.

Store Manager Christine Jeffrey said “Our colleagues chose the RNLI because their aims and objectives really touched the hearts of many of our colleagues and customers. We’re passionate to give help and support, through raising awareness and fundraising, throughout our year’s partnership.  We also hope our customers will join in the fun and support this very worthy local community charity.”

Alnwick customers bought delicious cakes and treats baked by Sainsbury’s colleagues, had the chance to buy charity Christmas cards, look at models of RNLI boats and to meet cuddly mascot Stormy Sam who was there to entertain the children.

More than £650 was made on the day taking the total raised so far this year to over £1,100. The store now plans to organise a colleague quiz night, a Christmas Craft and Bake Sale in the store on December 3rd and a Coffee Morning in the store’s coffee shop on 27th January, all in aid of the RNLI.
