Kelsie-Rose Marshall of James Calvert Spence College year 10 has cooked her way into the regional final of FutureChef, a prestigious catering competition that showcases the skills of young chefs around the country. It is sponsored by industry and organised by Springboard UK.

She won her place through in-school competitions and the area heat held in January.
FutureChef encourages 12 – 16-year-olds to explore food and cooking as a life skill, and provides an insight into hospitality careers. It was developed following research into young people’s perception of the industry. They admire celebrity chefs yet few consider a career as a chef.

Mrs Lawrie, Head of Food Technology at JCSC is delighted with Kelsie’s progress and accompanied her to Sheffield City College on Friday February 17.

“To help Kelsie prepare for the regional final, a local chef from Compass Group UK and Ireland visited the school to give Kelsie a few professional tips and some advice on the pressure of competing.”
