Busy Bees’ Great British Bake off

As part of their Jubilee celebration, parents and children from the Busy Bees Preschool Nursery took part in their own Great British Bake off. The idea was get everyone involved in home baking. A competition was held to find the best tasting contribution and the best design involving the child. For some of the children it was their first experience of baking at home and it caused much excitement within the group.

There were 14 entries, mostly cakes, many with a Jubilee theme; red, white and blue decorations were prevalent.
The competition was judged by Sharon Patterson, a tutor at the Dovecote Centre, where Busy Bees meet, and Vivienne Dalgliesh from the Ambler.

First prize in the taste category went to Holly Hodson for her pavlova, second was Cameron Wilkinson and third was Ruby Bell.

First prize in the child’s input category went to Emilia Marshall. It was evident she had had great fun making her cake, which was blue inside with bright pink icing and decorated with sweets and lollipops.
She was very pleased to have won and said, “I’m going to share the lollipops with my friends.” Second prize went to Riley Moore and third was George Trotter.

The others were not forgotten; they all received a prize for entering the competition.
