Poem: The Geordie dream

Posted on 17th December 2012 | in Community

It was the year of 2003 when the dream began for the Geordie clan
The time of Barcelona, Kiev, and the mighty Milan
It was the champions league
Bringing big money and intrigue

Saint James’s was the place to be
We had Salano Shearer and Robert Lee
We had a partisan crowd and good old Sir Bobby
Patrolling the touch line always gobby

The football we played was incisive and full of vigour
It showed the continent Tyneside’s precision and rigour
We were one of England’s fab 4
There was no doubt about the final score

The tackles and challenges were fast and fierce
We had the firy dragon Belamy and defences he would pierce
Europe applauded our passion and panache
We were all over teams as we were prepared for the clash

2012 is now where we are
The players are Cisse Ben Arfa and Denba Ba
We are vying to the end for that elusive fourth spot
Back in the hunt for a champions league slot

Now folks let us sit back and wait our fortune to be told
Anticipating the drama and events that will unfold
there is not long to go for our dream to come true
I just hope we stay focused and keep Alan Pardew
