Surf kayak world champion Tamsin Green lost her crown in this year’s World Championships coming fourth in the finals, but she and husband Dan helped the England team to a fabulous silver medal.

The Amble pair competed in the Surf Kayak World Championships, which this year took place in Queensland, Australia.

“It was a tough competition; getting to the finals was a huge achievement, as the team already had a penalty due to them being one team member short.” said Tamsin.

Team finals day took nine hours, with torrential rain for six hours.

“The surf was coming in to the beach between eight and 10ft, which made conditions exceptionally difficult.” she said.
But against the odds and all expectations, the England kayakers took silver, behind the Spain Basque team.

“Beating the Aussies was a huge and satisfying achievement!” said Dan. “We are both proud to have played a key role in the success of the team.”

“We would like to thank everyone for all the support we have received in particular James Calvert Spence College for allowing me the time off to compete and Augusta Westlands for continuing to support Dan” said Tamsin.
