Coquet Yacht Club improvements provide a warm welcome for all

CYC-view-from-balconySince the last Ambler we’ve been cracking on at CYC – www.coquetyachtclub.org.uk – with the balcony finished and the “River Lounge” well on its way to completion.

Many locals and tourists who walk the footpath in front of us stop and admire our development and some of them even become members.
Soon we will be securing the site with a fence that does NOT shout “visitors can’t come in here”!  Our rules allow visitors to come and sample our wares and the view.  You can visit six times before they are asked to become a member.  Many have.

So far we’ve had a cracking off shore sailing season and our dinghy activities are taking off with two new Bahia dinghies, which will enable us to take out whole families for a taster and training sessions.  One of our offshore yachts, Medmerry, had great success winning  an important race on the West Coast of Scotland.  We are finding more and more families joining the club either for off shores dinghy sailing or simply enjoying the atmosphere.  The social side of the club continues to grow.  Our 50th anniversary was a great success with 140 members and guests enjoying the new balcony which was opened by Craig Weir, Amble’s Town Mayor.

We’ve held some great functions at the club.  Weddings, 30th birthdays and christenings.  If you’d like to join  our wonderful club or book us for a function please contact me on 07710 423550 or email me on phil.derry@coquetyachtclub.org.uk.

The age group of the club is eight weeks to 92, so you WILL feel at home.  Come and see us.

Phil Derry, Commodore, CYC
