“We’ll be using that money to pay for lantern making workshops in the First Schools and Brambles’ Nursery,” said Julia Aston, director of Amble Development Trust. “And there will be community lantern making workshops held at the Seafood Centre.”

This year’s lantern theme will be Alice In Wonderland. Funding has meant that at the event there will also be a stilt walker and a fire dancer.

The event takes place on Sunday 20 November.

Santa has promised to join in the fun, and will be in the Seafood Centre from 4pm. Local children are invited to decorate the Christmas tree in the High Street garden from 4pm.

The procession will leave the Wellwood at 5pm and parade down Queen Street to the Town Square.

If anyone or any group would like to take part in the Procession or workshops, contact Julia on 01665 712929 julia@ambledevelopmenttrust.org.uk.

“We would particularly ask anyone thinking of arriving in a large vehicle/tractor/etc to please let us know beforehand, so we can assign them a safe place in the parade,” said Julia.
