Author Jenny Colgan gave a talk for children at the Festival in 2016 and will be returning this year.

Clear your diaries for this year’s puffin festival, which will take place over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May, there will be craft and food stalls and entertainment in the town square, while on the Bank Holiday Monday, there will be stalls by community groups.

Also over the weekend, there will be kites on display, a mini beer festival, sports activities for children, crafts for children, and a steel band and music in the square.

The Festival committee is delighted to welcome the return of best selling novelist Jenny Colgan who will be reading and signing copies of her latest ‘Polly and the Puffin’ book on Sunday 28 May.

Closer to home, the committee will also be selling their ‘Arty visits Amble’ book, priced £4.

For those interested in watersports, Coquet Shorebase Trust will be running ‘Come and try’ sessions, and evening estuary paddling.

Puffin Fringe activities

Various ‘fringe’ events will take place in the town during the rest of the half term week, with guided walks and talks, storytelling and pottery painting.

Saturday 3 June will see the ever popular Colony music festival, showcasing local bands.

And of course, the highlight of the festival, is the chance to see the wonderful Coquet Island puffins (weather permitting) by taking a Puffin Cruise from Amble harbour.

More activities are yet to be confirmed, so keep checking the website and follow the festival on Twitter and Facebook.
