Specially composed WW1 song performed in Amble

A beautiful song, composed and sung by Amanda Winn was performed at the weekend’s WW1 centenary events.

Amanda’s mother lives in Amble and she was thrilled to be allowed to perform at the clock rededication ceremony on Saturday, and at a thank you event for those who had contributed to the poppy making, on Sunday.

Amanda said “ I feel really quite humbled and honoured to have been part of the Armistice Centenary ‘movement’ that seems to have taken hold in the UK and beyond and am really grateful to Councillor Lewis, the Mayor and everyone involved in facilitating my performances.”

Amanda lives in France and travelled to Amble especially to perform the song ‘Between the Lines’.

She says ”..as it was written, in my head the lad in the song is from the north east, a place like Amble perhaps, where mothers used to scrub the front step, lived in their pinnys and had fishermen’s hands.”

You can also hear the song and read the lyrics on Amanda’s website page.
