No Remembrance Day ceremony at Warkworth

Posted on 12th October 2020 | in Community

Remembrance Sunday 8 Nov 2020

Period of Remembrance 24 Oct – 7 Nov 2020

Following recent government guidelines, we regret the Branch will not be holding a Remembrance Day Ceremony or indeed any service this year at our war memorial in Dial Place, Warkworth. We take the safety of others as our priority and hope that members of the public will observe the two minutes silence at 11 am in the safety of their own homes, or wherever they happen to be, to remember those who sacrificed their lives in both World Wars and subsequent campaigns.

A single member of the branch will take a wreath to the Warkworth memorial and if others wish to place a wreath it will be up to them to visit at their own convenience making sure they abide by social distancing. A branch member will also place a wreath at the Amble war memorial at some point on the day.

Poppy badges etc will only be on sale at Morrisons Supermarket, Amble. A single volunteer from the branch, assisted by the store community team will set up a pop-up point at the busiest times. Collecting tins will be in store for the whole period and if any organisation would like to donate direct to the Poppy Appeal the Bank BACs details are as follows:
Bank Account Name: RBL Poppy Appeal Sort Code 30-11-75  Bank Account: 01937121 REF: NDA12

Most of the wreaths to local groups have now been delivered but we still have extras if anyone would like to order tel. 07785 753100.

Thank you for supporting the Poppy Appeal in the past and stay safe!

June Watson, Secretary
Warkworth & Amble District Royal British Legion
