Congratulations to The Galley who have been shortlisted for an award in the 2021 Town & County Business Champions.

l-r: Courtney Collins, Eileen Potts, Natalie Morrison, James Leighton, Sally Scott, Sandy Scott

James Leighton told The Ambler that he was flattered at The Galley being nominated by some of their customers, so agreed to take part.

“I submitted my entry in December to be considered for the award of Town champion by the panel. After a couple of months, I got word from the awards committee saying that the panel has picked us as a finalist in the county championship as a successful business growing in Northumberland. We have been invited to the awards ceremony down in Liverpool in July. I was overwhelmed yesterday when I got the news, it’s a credit to all of us to even make the final.

The family run sandwich and deli shop is run by Sandy and Sally Scott, and Sally’s son James Leighton. They recently opened a second shop in Alnwick, thereby doubling their workforce.

The Town & County Business Champion awards celebrate the best of small local businesses, and there are five regional finals, Northern England, Southern England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. http://www.tcbchamps.co.uk/
