Amble Food Bank: every item makes a difference

Posted on 06th October 2022 | in Community

Amble Food Bank would like to thank our local communities for their overwhelming generosity, particularly during such challenging times with the current cost of living crisis. Food donations continue to come in via Morrison’s and the Co-op. We hope that people will continue to be as generous as they feel they can. Every single item donated really does make a difference.

We have been able to provide children with extra healthy food during the summer holidays, once again accessing funding we received through the Co-op Local Community Fund. Thank you to the Co-op for making this possible.

Warkworth Primary School pupils came up trumps at the end of term, collecting a record 400 items for AFB! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed.

By the time this goes to print, Megan Boyd will have completed the Great North Run in aid of AFB – a huge thank you for raising money for our charity!

Thanks also go to the following: Jos and Roy Inglis for collecting and donating an amazing £585 to AFB in memory of Joy Inglis who sadly passed away; Alexa’s Canine Trust for regularly donating pet food to us; Guy Nutting for playing his aerophone and raising £90 for AFB; and to Kate Wilson for running a willow weaving workshop and donating £60 raised to AFB.

With the increase in referrals to AFB, we now have to carry out regular large food shops (currently averaging £1800 a month).

Should you wish to make a financial donation to help with this, cash or a cheque can be addressed to us and posted through the letter box at Trinity Methodist Church. Or you can do a bank transfer to: Amble Food Bank, sort code 77-20-04, account number 17925260. You can also donate through our Just Giving page. We are registered with HMRC, so if you pay tax you can Gift Aid any donations (email us for a form). A huge thank you for all financial donations that we receive. Without these we simply could not operate.

If you are in need, you can get a referral through an agency such as CAB, your local school or Health Visitor. Or contact Northumberland Communities Together on 01670 620015, 9-6pm.

Any general enquiries can be emailed to amblefoodbank@aol.com.

Many thanks
Amble Food Bank
