Amble Food Bank still needs our help

Posted on 16th February 2023 | in Community , Health

Amble Food Bank (AFB) would like to thank our communities for their continued generosity, during such challenging times.

We were overwhelmed by the scale of food and financial donations during December, without these we simply would cease to exist. In the run up to Christmas we received in excess of £3,000, (which does not include regular standing orders.) We hope that people will continue to be as generous in 2023. We are truly grateful for every single gift; each one really does make a difference.

Thank you to Morrison’s for organising the pick-up bags, the Co-op for managing the food bin and the Food Share items (clients benefit from food that would otherwise be binned).

We are fortunate to have so many businesses and local establishments supporting our charity, the following businesses kindly donated food or festive items in the run up to Christmas: Styles by Helena, Nu.U Hair Salon, Harbour Lights Church, Amble WI, The Mad Jam Woman, and Heron’s customers who bought savings stamps that provided food items and The Amble Inn who purchased over £700 worth of food items.

Thank you to James Calvert Spence College for organising a collection of food on their Festive Jumper Day. Thank you to all who donated.

Thank you to Alexa’s Canine Trust who continue to donate cat and dog food. Donated pet food enables pets to stay in their family homes.
With the increase in referrals to AFB, we now have to carry out regular food shops (currently averaging £1,800 a month).

Should you wish to make a financial donation to help with this, cash or a cheque can be addressed to us and posted through the letter box at Trinity Methodist Church, or with a bank transfer via: Amble Food Bank, sort code 77-20-04, account number 17925260.

We are registered with HMRC, so if you pay tax you can Gift Aid any donations (email us for a form).

We currently have collection tins at the Co-op, The Farm bakery and The Boat Shed Gallery at Amble Harbour Village.

Food items can be dropped off at either Morrison’s or The Co-op.

If you are in need, you can get a referral through an agency such as CAB, your local school or Health Visitor. Or contact Northumberland Communities Together on 01670 620015, 9-6pm.

Any general enquiries may be emailed to amblefoodbank@aol.com.
Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.
