National, local thanks given to RNLI crew and fundraisers

Four volunteer fundraisers from Amble RNLI – Val Connell, Linda Siney-Taylor, Vivien Wade and Allan Wade recently received their Long Service Awards from the RNLI in recognition of their dedication and commitment to fundraising for saving lives at sea.

A spokesperson said “Val has volunteered at Amble Lifeboat Station for over 30 years and Linda, Vivien and Allan have volunteered for over 20 years and continue to raise funds to keep our lifeboats on call 24/7. Thank you to all of them for their loyal service to the RNLI.”


Fundraisers and crew from Amble RNLI attended a national service of thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, to mark the RNLI’s 200th anniversary on 4 March. Members will also attend a second service at York Minster on 20 April.

Linda Siney-Taylor, Nathan Purvis, Richard Bewley and Val Connell attended the RNLI thanksgiving service at Westminster Abbey.

Val Connell told The Ambler, “It was a fabulous experience with representatives from every station in the country and attended by The Duke of Kent and Vice Admiral Tim Laurence.”
