Border Links’ allotment plans

Border Links, a community enterprise company, founded in January 2006 with start-up grants from DEFRA, provides local opportunities to support social and economic inclusion for adults with learning disabilities.

Border Links group in Amble

Our group at Amble have taken on an allotment which requires a lot of work and investment to make it a successful enterprise. We are very fortunate to have received funding from Northumberland Estates, The Apple Tree Charitable Trust, and the Co-op.

Plans for 2024 include growing vegetables and plants and providing a space for wildlife by creating a pond, and wildflowers for nature to flourish.

Our ‘Members’ are enthusiastic about the allotment and have enjoyed learning about growing plants and the natural environment. It is also a wonderful space to enjoy healthy activities and facilitate personal development.

We would welcome the opportunity to share the allotment with one other group/partner.

Border Links is keen to experience new opportunities within the community, for example we took part in The Two Minute Beach Clean in May 2023 and most recently have made links with Amble Development Trust taking part in the Welfare Community Orchard.
