Refurbishment at funeral parlour

Items in the Memory box

Our recently refurbished Co-op funeral home in Amble, is welcoming and bright, offering comfortable surroundings for our clients. We opened our doors to the community on 1 February to help us celebrate our makeover. We were joined by local celebrants, humanists, and representatives from community groups.

Rev Ian MacKarill led a short service, to rededicate our Chapels of Rest, for the repose of the departed and the comfort of the bereaved.

On display we had our Memory Box. This is filled with memorabilia from the past to help inspire memories, including books, soap, a glass milk bottle, knitting needles and old packaging. When these items are shared with the elderly or those suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s it helps to spark conversations about the past. If any community groups would like to use our box, please ring Christine Hardy on 01665 710437.
