Reports from our County Councillors #155
COUNCILLOR ARTY HUME
It has been a steady couple of months, with much of my time spent dealing with individual casework on behalf of residents. I prefer email contact as I can directly refer your concerns to the most appropriate department or person. The volume of work has been such that I exceeded my data allowance given by NCC — a small sign of just how busy local issues have been!

Cllr Arty Hume
Among the main matters I have dealt with recently are:
• Housing issues
• Parking problems
• Footpath maintenance: particularly on Percy Drive and Footpath 17 (around the Industrial estate). I have walked beside a resident around Amble alongside a mobility scooter to evaluate the condition of footpaths and, together with my recommendations and observations, I await a response.
• Amble Inn Roundabout: this has been referred to the Highways Department for review.
• Public toilets: Work on the new public toilets in Amble is progressing well, though I do have some concerns about the value and cost aspect.
• Anti-social behaviour: mainly evenings in the Morrisons area. As well as referral to the Public Protection Team this has been discussed with PCSO Darin Fawcett.
• Drainage at High Hauxley
• Childcare provision
I attended the monthly breakfast club at the Amble Inn on 18 October where I was introduced to the new Veterans Community Coordinator John Taylor.
Could residents let me know what they think the Local Members Improvement Scheme (LMIS) money should be spent on? This is an allocation of £15k per year to be used for small capital improvement schemes in Amble The scheme is used to fund a variety of initiatives, from physical improvements to supporting local groups. This is your money so you need to have a say in how it is used!
There are other conditions so please keep suggestions in line and I will see what can be done; let me know your thoughts.
It was a pleasure to meet those who attended our surgery in October, I hope you found the discussions helpful. Our next surgery will take place on Saturday 6 December at the Dovecote Centre, from 11am to 1pm.
Finally, a quick note of advice following our last County Council meeting:
• Issues such as potholes, litter, or damaged street furniture, please use the FixMyStreet app, which links directly to the Council’s systems.
• For housing or transfer queries, the preferred route is the HomeFinder app or the online housing portal.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.

Season’s Greetings from Cllr Pauline Davidson

Cllr Pauline Davidson
As Christmas draws near, I am sure many of us are busy with the festive rush—hanging decorations, decorating the Christmas tree, hunting for those perfect bargains, and soaking up the unique hustle and bustle of the holiday season. It is a time for family and friends, the delicious aroma of home-cooked meals, and, of course, children writing exceptionally long letters to Santa!
Amid all this, I have been keeping busy with my usual workload—replying to emails, addressing residents’ concerns, and attending Parish and Town Council meetings, along with various committee meetings. It is always a pleasure to stay connected with the community, especially during such a joyful time of year.
There has been a slight change at County Council that I want to make you aware of. We now send residents’ requests and issues via the Members Portal or Fix My Street, depending on the nature of the concern. This means that responses may take a little longer than usual, as the council is currently processing a high volume of requests across Northumberland.
Rest assured, we are doing our best to get back to you as quickly as possible!
Exciting News: Our First Councillor Surgery in Warkworth!
We are already holding our Councillor surgeries in Amble and Acklington. I am thrilled to announce that we will be holding our very first Councillor Surgery in Warkworth! It will take place on Saturday, 13 December from 11am to 1pm at the British Legion Room in the War Memorial Hall. Councillor Arty Hume will also be there, and we would love to meet you. If you have a spare five minutes, please pop in to have a chat, raise any concerns, or just say hello! Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Lastly, I want to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very merry Christmas and a bright. happy, healthy New Year in 2026! Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to continuing to work together in the year ahead.
Take care and enjoy the festive season!
