Over 100 jobs have been created in the new Morrison’s store in Amble which is due to open on 2 April. Designated a Neighbourhood Store, it’s only the second of its kind in the country, and manager Kevin Smith is excited to get going.

“We’ll be selling the right kind of produce for the local area,” said Kevin. “We’re wanting to build a strong relationship with the community, we want people to come in and feel welcome, and get great service from a friendly colleague.”

There will be a community champion in store too, who will help organise school tours, and help local businesses with prizes for raffles and tombolas and bag packing opportunities. There will also be a community room, free to use for local groups.

The store will be around the same size as the one in Alnwick, and will feature a Barista coffee bar, butcher, bakery, salad bar, a ‘free-from’ section, and a range of children’s clothes.

The store will be open 7am-10pm Mon – Sat, 10am-4pm on Sundays, and the petrol station shop will be open from 6am-11pm everyday.

There are vacancies in the following areas:-
* day & night shifts
* team leader
